A new children’s library has opened in Chicago, Ill. as the result of a collaboration between Homewood Suites by Hilton and early childhood education nonprofit The Books for Kids Foundation. The new Homewood Suites Books for Kids Library at the Carole Robertson Center for Learning – North Lawndale, located at 3701 West Ogden Avenue, will ensure that all of the more than 235 at-risk children from low-income and mostly single family homes served by the center will have access and regular exposure to new, age-appropriate books regardless of their parents’ or guardians’ schedules or means.

A new children’s library has opened in Memphis, TN as the result of a collaboration between Homewood Suites by Hilton and early childhood education nonprofit The Books for Kids Foundation. Homewood Suites by Hilton Introduces Third Book in Children’s Series

Homewood Suites by Hilton, an international brand of all-suite, residential-style hotels, today announced the availability of its third children’s book. “Lewis the Duck Goes to Mexico” finds the brand’s mascot and his family on an exciting adventure through Mexico. The first book, “Lewis the Duck and His Long Trip” was introduced in 2008, and was followed a year later by “Lewis the Duck goes to Canada.”

The Homewood Books for Kids library, built in the E C Mazique Parent Child Center, will ensure that all at-risk preschoolers served by the Head Start/Early Head Start program have access to brand new books, reading programs and other educational tools that serve as key building blocks for early literacy skills.

Homewood Suites by Hilton Partners with Childhood Literacy Foundation

A new, first-of-its-kind library opened in Memphis, Tenn. this week thanks to a partnership between Homewood Suites by Hilton and early childhood education advocacy group, the Books for Kids Foundation. The “Lewis the Duck Reading Library” – named after the Homewood Suites’ mascot – is located on the campus of the Martin Luther King Jr. Head Start Center at 626 South Lauderdale in downtown Memphis. Homewood Suites partnered with Books for Kids and Shelby County Head Start to host a special community event at the library on July 28 which was attended by approximately 300 students and their families. This opening is the first in a series of libraries Homewood Suites will introduce over the next several years as the hotel brand helps Books for Kids expand nationally.
